Find Out Why Mr. Eko Did Not Return

Why didn't Mr. Eko come back?

It's one of the most asked questions about Lost's final season. After all, everyone else returned! So what gives?

Sources tell me exclusively:

Lost's Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje--who played the iconic Mr. Eko--was offered a guest spot in last night's Lost series finale, but he...wait for it...turned it down.

According to ABC and Lost insiders, Adewale was offered a hearty sum to do one scene in the last hurrah, but the actor wanted five times the amount that was offered. It didn't work out.

How and where would Adewale have popped up in the finale? I guess we'll never know, but he was definitely loved by many fans before his character's demise.

Eko (a warlord who pretended to be a priest in order to smuggle drugs) was the fifth character to die on Lost, after facing the Smoke Monster for a second time and getting attacked, and then telling Locke, "I saw the devil."

Producers have said their original plan was for Mr. Eko to stay on the show four seasons, but they released Adewale from his contract after only one season because he wanted off the Island.

Leggo my Eko!

Would you have liked to see Adewale/Eko in the finale, or did it feel just fine without him? Comment below...

New Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Interview

New Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Interview

AAA talks about his role in his new movie G.I. Joe and then discusses the rumors about his potential return to LOST as Mr. Eko.

I would go crazy if he returned. Eko was always one of my favorite characters and one of the most disappointing deaths on the show for me.

No spoilers, so enjoy!

Here is the transcript of what he says about LOST:

Yes there are rumors circulating about LOST and I do not know where that are coming from (He smiles with a grin and looks around), but they are building up. Yeah so you know with that show anything can happen and the fans really liked Mr. Eko and it might be nice to weild the stick one more time.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra

Here are a couple of new promo pics of former LOST actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Eko) in his new movie G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

Adewale has expressed that he would like to return for Season 6 to make sure his character Mr. Eko had closure. The LOST writers had big plans for Eko, but had to change the story when Adewale left. Now that he is willing to return can the writers put him back in!?

My guess is yes!!

Well here are the pics. Enjoy!!

Mr Eko Meets Monk

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje disappointed Lost fans and angered producers when he asked to be released from his role as Mr. Eko after his parents passed away in 2006. “It was a very traumatic year,” he says. The Brit would now welcome a return to Hawaii and a fat paycheck from ABC. “To be able to give that rich character some completion would be nice,” says Adewale, who stays in touch with fellow Lost corpses Harold Perrineau (Michael) and Dominic Monaghan (Charlie).

Back at work, Adewale has roles in the big-screen “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and Monk, both bowing August 7. On the final season of the USA mystery, he’ll prove to be the catalyst to Monk unlocking his wife’s murder.

“My character comes from Nigeria to America to find out what happened to his wife, who was killed in a hit-and-run,” Adewale says. “In the process I come across Monk, who lost his wife in a similar manner. It’s a sweet, sad story that reignites Monk’s fervor to solve her murder.”

Damon Lindelof Discusses LOST, Star Trek and Dark Tower

Hey All,
LOST Producer/writer Damon Lindelof recently had an interview where he discussed LOST, Star Trek and Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

In answering the question of making changes during production, Lindelof confirms that they had plans to keep Eko's character to almost the end of the show, but had to make adjustments for the actor. He confirmed that with the main plot decided that it takes minor adjustments to make sure the story flows. So perhaps Locke or Ben get a larger role.

Kind of interesting to know that Eko a man of faith was in the long term plans of the show. Wish it could have happened. Oh well, here is the interview:

Q: You've said the episode of Lost where Desmond travels through time is an homage to Star Trek. Did you approach the upcoming film as a fanboy?

A: I had a real reverence for the material, but more importantly, for the world and how special that world is, and how long it's persevered. I watched a fair amount of the original and I really watched a lot of Next Generation. The first series of meetings we had were along the lines of: What is the State of the Union of Trek, and has it been brought to a place where people will resent our involvement because we're coming from the outside? I think it's like how with Batman, it got to the point where there was more press about the nipples on the Batsuit than there was about the characters, and the franchise needed a reboot.

Q: William Shatner has been very vocal about his displeasure in not having a place in the film. How did you react?

A: Mr. Shatner created Kirk, so I understand and sympathize with his feelings about what his role -- or lack of a role -- in our movie was. That being said, Kirk died; he fell down a cliff face. That made it incredibly challenging for us to tell the story we wanted to tell and figure out a way for William Shatner, who is now several years older than Kirk was when he died, to be in the movie. It's an incredibly ambitious movie on a technical scale. I can say with confidence that we achieved what we set out to achieve, and that's all you can ask for.

Q: When it comes to Lost, you seem very willing to respond to audience demands about what we want to see. Why?

A: We're writing a television show that's supposed to be consumed by the masses. In the same way that a gladiator in the Roman arena lived or died based on whether or not he was entertaining, we feel like an instantaneous thumbs up, thumbs down response is huge for us. More importantly, the majority of the writers on Lost are fanboys. There's a ripple effect that occurs where we say, "Nikki and Paolo are not working. We don't like them, the audience isn't going to like them." By the time the audience starts complaining about Nikki and Paolo, we've already written a script where they get buried alive.

Q: Is it difficult to change course midstream when so much of the show is plotted from the beginning?

A: The uber-mythology has to stay the same because there's stuff we've set up that has to pay off. But there is wiggle room in terms of the way the characters experience that story. In our minds, Mr. Eko was going to be a character who made it to close to the end of the show, but because Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was so unhappy being on the show, we had to say, "Alright, life intervenes. Who else can we tell the story with? Can we re-jigger Locke to have it be him, or can we make Benjamin Linus a little bit more of a man of faith?" You adapt the characters as you go.

Q: Have there been any developments with your rumored adaptation of Stephen King's Dark Tower series?

A: The Dark Tower is to me every bit as daunting an adaptation as the Lord of the Rings trilogy must have been for Peter Jackson, except we've got seven books we're looking at. And the idea of doing that at the same time Carlton and I are bringing Lost to a close is simply not viable. There are always Dark Tower conversations, but the figuring out of what this will look like as a movie has not begun. If The Dark Tower were in the right hands, I would love to see seven movies executed just right. But you have to get people to see the first one to get them to come and see the second one.

LOST Connections in One Clip

Hey Losties,
One of the biggest mysteries of our favorite show LOST is how all of the characters are connected to one another from their pasts.

Now only is it fun to see scenes with the Losties off-island together but also great to know that we are getting a new easter egg and piece of the puzzle.

I know there are many fans out there that feel that these connections do mean something while others feel that there is no significance and it is just for fun.

Well I have always been a believer in FATE, so from day one I have always felt that there will be some answer to how and why all of these connections exist. This season's Episode 5 The Constant a Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick) Centric episode explored the ideas of "flashing" or "mind time travel" and introduced us to the concept of having a "constant". Desmond's constant was of course Penny, while Daniel Faraday had Desmond is his constant on one of the pages of his notebook.

This notion of having a concept began a new debate among LOST fans and opened the door to a possibility that other Losties might be flashing and/or might have constants as well.

Of course we have no proof that any of the other characters have been possibly infected with high amounts of electromagnetism, plus a constant has to be something the person strongly feels about in present time and in the past/future. So the odds that perhaps the other Losties are flashing might be low, but there is still the question of how and why are these past connections!?

Well the following video clip does not answer that question, but is still a great clip showing us the LOST Connections. Also, it is updated with this seasons connections as well, so enjoy and namaste.

Thanks to Mrs. P for the video and LOST Perdidos for the heads up.
