LOST Likely Winner in Wed Night Ratings Battle
The Hollywood Reporter has a very extensive detail of the upcoming ratings "battles" for the second half of the TV Season.
With LOST moving back to Wednesday nights at 9 PM they will be facing old foe Criminal Minds on CBS and new show with Tim Roth Lie to Me on FOX.
While other shows have lost ratings this season, the CBS crime shows seems to be holding up well and Lie to Me has gotten some good reviews.
However, the anticipation for Season 5 of LOST seems to be at a all time high more so than ever before.
THR is predicting that LOST will be the likely winner and here is their analysis:
Battleground: Wednesdays at 9 p.m.: ABC's "Lost" vs. Fox's "Lie to Me" vs. CBS' "Criminal Minds"
Analysis: This is a three-way Mexican standoff. Fox's keystone new show against CBS' usual time-period winner -- both crime procedurals -- and then there's ABC's strongly rated "Lost" returning after airing on Thursdays during the writers strike last year. "Lie" has the "Idol" lead-in and boasts a fairly solid pilot, plus the dramas that best maintained an "Idol" lead-in have been the somewhat similar "Bones" and "House." ABC hasn't yet scheduled a lead-in for "Lost," but the show is considered a self-starter.
Likely winner: As a serialized show, "Lost" will drop at least 10%, yet will probably win in the demo. "Lie" could surprise thanks to "Idol." Either way, "Minds" remains a good bet to dominate total viewers. Also, Fox holds a trump card here: The network could swap "Lie" and 8 p.m.'s "American Idol" at any time to protect their new show.

Something Nice Back Home
Last night's episode of LOST (Something Nice Back Home) could not gain ground on last week's great episode and actually saw a drop in ratings this week, with it's lowest ratings for any new episode of LOST.
Although the ratings dropped, please keep in mind these numbers are with out DVR/Online viewers and ratings across the board for all TV shows has dropped significantly. The dip in ratings was something expected by networks and industry insiders because of the strike. The hope is that fans return next season when shows have a full slate of episodes.
Thanks to Unai for the heads up and details here:
Last night "Something Nice Back Home" averaged 11.14 million viewers, the lowest number of LIVE viewers for any episode of Lost ever.
I know this sounds awful, but the fact is that a lot of TV shows had low ratings, like Grey's Anatomy, Survivor or The Office.
Also remember that Lost is the most recorded and downloaded TV show right now.

Episode 4x09 - TV Weekly Ratings
So last week's episode of LOST moved to a new time slot behind ABC's "powerhouse" show Grey's Anatomy and most of the industry was curious how the new ABC lineup would hold up!? Well ABC did win Thursday night's ratings war and LOST held it's own and actually saw an increase of an additional 1Million+ viewers this week for a total of 12 Million for Ben's flash forward. Also, LOST held strong in the weekly TV Ratings for last week finishing in the Top 15 as seen in the Nielsen rankings chart (click to enlarge).
With fans raving about last week's time traveling adventures with Ben episode, hopefully LOST will get a slight jump for this week's episode.
NOTE: LOST usually adds about 3-4 million additional viewers, once time-adjusted or DVR/Online viewers are added into the numbers later.
LOST Wins 9PM Slot With Steady Ratings
ABC's LOST won it's 9PM slot once again this week with Season 4 Episode 6 The Other Woman. The ratings increased slightly from the previous week with a total of 13 Million viewers tuning in for the live broadcast.
Usually an additional 3 million fans view the show via DVR/Online.
Season 4 Ratings Breakdown:
401 "The Beginning of the End" 16.1
402 "Confirmed Dead" 15.2
403 "The Economist" 13.7
404 "Eggtown" 13.6
405 "The Constant" 12.8
406 "The Other Woman" 13
Fox's "American Idol" dominated Thursday's opening hour with a special results-show edition, but auds don't seem especially excited for the net's special preview of drama "New Amsterdam," which fumbled away most of its big lead-in and was handily defeated by ABC's "Lost."
According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, the final special-night results show of "American Idol" kicked off the night with a big 9.3 rating/24 share in adults 18-49 and 26.2 million viewers overall, up a bit from the previous week. It more than doubled its closest pursuer, CBS' "Survivor" (4.0/10 in 18-49, 12.6 million viewers overall), while repeat offerings on ABC and NBC settled for just a 5 share of the audience.
At 9 o'clock, "Lost" (projected 5.4/13 in 18-49, 13.0 million viewers overall) was on par with the previous week's result and remained on top of the hour over Fox's "New Amsterdam" (3.6/9 in 18-49, 10.6 million viewers overall), NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" (3.5/8 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) and CBS' repeat of "CSI" (2.7/6 in 18-49, 9.8 million viewers overall). "Amsterdam" lost 3 shares points in its second half, while the Peacock reality show gained 1 share to overtake it for second place in 18-49 at 9:30.
After getting two post-"Idol" previews this week, Fox's "New Amsterdam" will have its official timeslot premiere Monday at 9 o'clock.
There wasn't a lot happening in the 10 o'clock hour, where all three broadcast dramas posted similar demo numbers: ABC's "Eli Stone" (projected 2.4/7 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall), CBS' "Without a Trace" repeat (2.4/7 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall) and NBC's "Lipstick Jungle" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall).
Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Fox, 6.5/16; ABC, 3.3/8; CBS, 3.0/8; NBC, 2.6/7; Univision, 1.7/4; CW, 0.8/2.
In total viewers: Fox, 18.4 million; CBS, 10.6 million; ABC, 8.6 million; NBC, 6.3 million; Univision, 3.9 million; CW, 1.9 million.

LOST Ratings a Big Hit for ABC
So there were several questions on our minds after the premiere last night, but for ABC the biggest question was how will the ratings be!?
Well as expected LOST came back with a vengeance and won it's time slot easily...!!
With over 16 Million fans tuning in to watch the Season 4 Premiere, the DVR returns will boost this number and enhance the ratings even further.
This was the highest rated LOST since November of 2006, yes misleading because of the hiatus, but that is basically early in Season 3. Another benchmark to give you an idea of how well last night's episode performed is the comparison of the S3 Finale number of approximately ONLY 14 Million. Don't forget many felt that was the best episode of LOST ever...!!
LOST had competition, but not as stiff because of the strike several repeats aired including CSI.
Well either way it is a big win for ABC and LOST, so the key will now be can it sustain it's audience or even build on the success...!?
Here are the ratings numbers by network:
ABC:
8:00pm Lost: Past, Present & Future (13.1 million)
9:00pm Lost (16.07 million)
10:02pm Eli Stone (11.62 million)
CBS:
8:00pm CSI: NY (R) (8.8 million)
9:00pm CSI: (R) (11.9 million)
10:00pm Without a Trace (R) (10.4 million)
NBC:
8:00pm My Name Is Earl (R) (5.3 million)
8:30pm The Office (R) (4.5 million)
9:00pm Celebrity Apprentice (7.8 million)
Fox:
8:00pm Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (10.6 million)
9:00pm Don't Forget the Lyrics! (10 million)
CW:
8:00pm Smallville (3.82 million)
9:00pm Supernatural (2.99 million)

LOST is #1 "Timeshifted" Show of 2007
This is something we pretty much knew, but was confirmed by Nielsen today. LOST is the most watched TV Show (Timeshifted) meaning the show had the largest percentage increase in viewers via DVR/Online viewing. Additionally LOST is the 7th most "Buzzed" about show online. I am actually surprised that it is NOT the #1 Buzzed show as well, but I like it either way.
