Season 6 DVD Will Have Epilogue of Ben and Hurley on Island

UPDATE: Here is the video that has Michael Emerson confirming the "epilogue" will be a part of the LOST Complete Collection. He says it at about the 3 Min mark.

UPDATE: As many fans have pointed out, this epilogue will be available on the COMPLETE COLLECTION not just the Season 6 DVD.

So for those wondering what happened with Ben and Hurley after the Ajira plane takes off, well you are in luck! Apparently there are an additional 12-14 minutes that will be an "epilogue" that will be included on the Season 6 DVD set.

Of course this is a part of ABC's way of making some more money, but at least there is more footage to see. Also some are speculating this is where we will see Walt.

Here is the story from E! Online:

One more reason to love Michael Emerson: He just spilled the goods on an amazing surprise for any Lost fan planning to buy the final, sixth-season DVD. (And trust me, now all of you will be buying it.)

There will be more Lost. There is more to the story, and we will get to see it! Praise Jacob! Or should we say…Hurley?!

“For those people that want to pony up and buy the complete Lost series, there is a bonus feature,” Michael just told our Kevin Pereira of Attack of the Show!, which airs tonight at 7 on E!’s brother network G4. “Which is um, you could call it an epilogue. A lost scene. It’s a lot; it’s 12 or 14 minutes that opens a window onto that gap of unknown time between Hurley (Jorge Garcia) becoming number one and the end of the series.”

ODI Podcast Update - Fan Questions Requested

Hey All,
So it has been a few days and I know many are still upset and will never change their opinions about the end of LOST. Some of you are still wondering about things while some are satisfied and content.

Where ever you are on that range we want to hear from you all. Please send in any questions you have about the finale or the show in general and we will pick the top questions to answer and provide you with our thoughts.

We are still planning on doing several podcasts about the show and finale, but the recap one will take some time. So in the meantime we thought it would be cool to just take some of the common questions from the fans and do our best to provide you with our thoughts for a special Finale Bonus podcast.

If you have just a comment please post them as well and we will maybe read some of those also.

Yes we were way off with many of our theories, maybe you want to know our take on those now? Maybe you want to know how Vozzek was feeling when Frank flew the plane off the island? Maybe you want to know what Karen thinks of the potential "Matrix" or video game theory?

We had a feeling something was not right about the ALT world, but not necessarily purgatory. Send in questions about the ALT Purgatory world?

Also, maybe you want to know how much I knew via spoilers?

ABC Confirms the Meaning of the Plane Wreckage During Credits

So as expected and suspected, ABC has confirmed the wreckage had nothing to do with the LOST Story. In fact they also confirmed that they added to wreckage as a nostalgic touch to the end of the show to add a buffer until the local news.

Here is the statement that comes from ABC via LA Times:

"The images shown during the end credits of the 'Lost' finale, which included shots of Oceanic 815 on a deserted beach, were not part of the final story but were a visual aid to allow the viewer to decompress before heading into the news,"

Ultimate List of Unanswered LOST Questions

Here is a funny fan made video by College Humor detailing MANY of the unanswered questions that we still have after LOST ended.

LOST Series Finale - Final Scenes - Jack Dies

Here is a video clip of the finale moments of the LOST Series Finale with Jack dying on island and him meeting all of his friends in the church before "letting go".

Explanation About Walt and Plane Wreckage During Credits

Two of the biggest questions following the finale were "What Happened to Walt? (There were set pictures showing him on set) and "What Was the Plane Wreckage at the End During the Credits?"

Well here are some answers for you all:

Explanation About Walt and Plane Wreckage During Credits

Question about the ‘Lost’ finale: I thought we were supposed to see Walt one last time? Did something change? – Craig
You perhaps got wind of what ‘Lost’ boss Carlton Cuse said at last week’s Times Talk Live event: “You will actually see Malcolm [David Kelley], when all is said and done.” But he wasn’t necessarily referring to the series finale that was broadcast on Sunday. So yes, they did find a way to reintroduce (a grown) Walt, but you’ll have to wait for the Season 6 DVD extras.

My friends and I are debating the significance of the wreckage shown during the ‘Lost’ finale’s closing credits. Was that the plane Lapidus was flying everyone off the island on? Or was that Oceanic 815, meaning everyone died in the original crash? – Leah
It was C) Not quite any of the above. While many have sought to read something into the serene image of the Oceanic 815 wreckage, sources assure me that coda was chosen strictly to serve as a “buffer” between the finale’s mind-bending final act and the local newscast to come.

Man in Black's Name Revealed!?

Of course there are several questions that will remain unanswered about LOST. However, we can confirm that in the scripts that the Man in Black's name was "Samuel". The writers just chose to not confirm it.

This information came via Kristin at E! Online who confirmed it during her post show video recap.

The name has some religious meanings but ultimately it is just a name and whether there is more meaning or not is up to all of us to debate.

Find Out Why Mr. Eko Did Not Return

Why didn't Mr. Eko come back?

It's one of the most asked questions about Lost's final season. After all, everyone else returned! So what gives?

Sources tell me exclusively:

Lost's Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje--who played the iconic Mr. Eko--was offered a guest spot in last night's Lost series finale, but he...wait for it...turned it down.

According to ABC and Lost insiders, Adewale was offered a hearty sum to do one scene in the last hurrah, but the actor wanted five times the amount that was offered. It didn't work out.

How and where would Adewale have popped up in the finale? I guess we'll never know, but he was definitely loved by many fans before his character's demise.

Eko (a warlord who pretended to be a priest in order to smuggle drugs) was the fifth character to die on Lost, after facing the Smoke Monster for a second time and getting attacked, and then telling Locke, "I saw the devil."

Producers have said their original plan was for Mr. Eko to stay on the show four seasons, but they released Adewale from his contract after only one season because he wanted off the Island.

Leggo my Eko!

Would you have liked to see Adewale/Eko in the finale, or did it feel just fine without him? Comment below...

STILL LOST and Confused? Here is a Quick Explanation of The End

STILL LOST and Confused? Here is a Quick Explanation of The End

I know several fans across the world have many many questions about the LOST Series finale but one big confusing thing for many is how did they all die or "when"?

The simple answer is rewatch what Christian Shepard told Jack. He said they all died at DIFFERENT times and the ALT Purgatory world (Season 6 off island) takes place in NO time. So no matter at what point they died, some on the island, some off after leaving, they all make it to the ALT Purgatory world and then to the church to "let go" and move on.

Here is another brief rundown with more details via a fan on the theories board on DarkUFO.

Thanks to Revel Fire for this quick rundown:

NOTE: This is their interpretation and I would say is fairly right on

In the final confrontation. Desmond was the only person who could go down into the light and unplug the cork. By unplugging the cork. The island lost all power. When the island lost all power ALL THE RULES COULD NOW BE BROKEN. Smokey/MIB lost all of his powers which made him mortal again but at the same time he could now kill the candidates directly. At the same time the island without its power was being destroyed…probably the whole world was being destroyed like “Mother” told her kids on what would happen if the light went out.

So MIB was now mortal and after a confrontation with Jack, he was finally killed. But the island needed to be re-plugged. Jack did this and sacrificed himself for the island. Hurley was left to be the new Jacob and Ben was his new “Richard” It appears that they had a successful long future not unseen but as Hurley told Ben in the ALT (which I am going to get into) “you were a good number 2” Ben: you were a good number 1” As for the people on the plane it appears that they escaped the island and probably lived happy lives back in the main land. The ones probably back in the island lived happy lives, like Rose Bernard, Cindy and the kids. As for Desmond he probably was able to get back to his family as well thanks to Hurley and Ben. Jack’s dying body was thrown out of the cave (like MIB’s body In Across the sea). He laid there dying looking up when Vincent came over and as he looked up and saw that the Ajira plane had been able to leave. He closed his eye and died.

Eventually like everyone does, they all died, from old age or however. (including Richard who started to finally age). Hurley probably died long after everyone else once he found his own candidate. When they finally died their “spirits” joined the others who had died before during the course of the series, they were in this type of “purgatory” which in season 6 was the ALT reality. Once in this purgatory, once they “woke up” or realized that they were in reality dead. They were able to “cross-over” probably to a type of heaven depending on your spiritual views. They lived happily ever after, in the great beyond.

As for any other unsolved mystery? How about Walt? Aaron? “Hurley bird“, the outrigger chase scene. Some answers may yet be solved in the extras during the DVD release. And a lot of answers are already answered. Aaron was never special, Walt’s story was over in season 5. All of the weird visions people (like Walt’s random apparitions) were probably just MIB’s turning into them, but that’s my other theory....

http://theoriesonlost.blogspot.com/2010/05/why-they-died-for-how-mib-used.html

People might not like this purgatory ending but we have to realize that everything that happened season 1 - 6 on the island was VERY REAL. Everything happened. The only thing that was purgatory was the ALT reality, and I strongly believe this was a joke of sorts from the writers. People from all the way back in season 1 kept theorizing that it was Purgatory all along, well the writers played an ironic story on us, we wanted a purgatory storyline, they created it…..it was the flash sideways. Honestly this was the perfect ending cause we will be able to theorize for decades to come but more importantly our characters got closure and that’s what LOST was truly about it was about the characters finally finding redemption and in the end, even if it was in the ALT/purgatory world…they finally found it. ...Except for poor Micheal who is stuck for all eternity on the island as a whisper, for the sins he committed. But at least for the most part all the characters got a happy ending :)

#LOST Episode 6x17/18 Series Finale - What Did You Think!?

So all this is it. The last episode poll of the series!

Did the finale live up to the hype? Was it what you expected?

Are you too sad to comment and vote? Well join in on all the fun and discussion and please let us know what you thought of the LOST Series Finale The End.

Happy LOST Series Finale Day! Thanks for 6 Amazing Years!

Hey All,
I just wanted to say I am really thankful to all of you that have visited the site or checked out the podcast on a regular basis! With out all of you the site and podcast would not exist.

I know this is a sad day for most of you, but it should be a happy day that should be celebrated. In this era of TV shows being canceled just because of writing and ratings it would be almost impossible to get a show that you love to end on it's own terms.

In a recent interview I read, the interviewer asked LOST writer Damon Lindelof if he was sad about the show coming to an end? His reply was, of course there is some normal sadness because something comes to an end, but how can you be sad for something you ask for? Yes as fans we never asked for this day, but Damon has a point. The writers asked ABC for this opportunity to end the show on their own terms and to allow the show to have a proper ending and thankfully they agreed.

We might not like the ending, but we are getting a complete story not something that we lived and talked about for 6 years being left open ended.

So we should be happy for the six amazing and wonderful years that we have received and of course ALL of the wonderful friendships that we created with one another in this great LOST community.

Thanks to the writers/producers, cast and crew for LOST and changing many fans lives!

If you are online and want to chat live with fans ALL across the world during the east coast feed via streaming LOST live, then check out the chat page here:

Ilana Was Supposed to be Jacob's Daughter??

A while ago at the start of Season 6 we broke the news that Illana was actually Jacob daughter. However this spoiler never came out in the episode and we suspected it was due to that particular scene being cut. Today the actress, Zuleikha Robinson, confirms that she was initially intended to be Jacob's daughter but this plotline was dropped.

Thanks to FutureMan for the heads up.

A bit of breaking "Lost" news (well, as breaking as news can be about a character who died four episodes ago): Ilana Verdansky was Jacob's daughter.

That's what Zuleikha Robinson, the actress who played the vest-wearing Ajira Airlines flight survivor, revealed at the Wednesday opening of a "Lost" gallery exhibit at the Vilcek Foundation in New York. She was chatting with me and another journalist when we asked if she could tell us anything more about her character's relevance to the broader narrative on the show.

"I was supposed to be Jacob's daughter," she confirmed, adding that the writers ultimately decided they didn't have enough time to fully address that part of the "Lost" saga in the number of episodes they had left. Which is why Ilana got the "Boom goes the dynamite!" treatment in "Everybody Loves Hugo," accidentally blowing herself to smithereens after mishandling some explosive sticks.

FOUR FOR THE FINALE -- THE 4TF LOST CHALLENGE

Well here we are on the home stretch towards the ending of one of, if not THE best television series of all time. I know that I am not the only one with a supreme mixture of emotions during these last days leading up to the big finale. The bittersweet feeling I am sensing from the whole of the LOSTiverse is quite overwhelming.

For so many of us, LOST has been more than just a "show". We have learned fascinating new things as we have witnessed the story unfold; things about friendship, courage, teamwork, love, family, philosophy, spirituality, mythology, science, medicine. LOST has enabled us to become experts at both creative nicknaming, and the art of applying themes from Star Wars to almost any given situation. We now know how not to handle dynamite. And LOST has taught us that instead of only seeing the world in black and white, it is good practice to often exist in the gray areas.

In addition, many of us have gathered into various groups to discuss the show with like-minded folks, and even more have joined online forums and communities, some venturing onto social networking sites and message boards for the first time ever simply to share this addiction to The Island and the survivors of Flight 815. Many have created blogs and have dedicated countless, sleepless nights to analyzing every aspect of every episode. Others have been inspired to experiment and play with the imagery and have made artwork, videos, poetry, and all manner of memorabilia in honor of their favorite themes from the show.

No matter what form our love for LOST has taken, the overriding aspect is that we have been MOVED in one way or another out from the framework of passive viewing and into the realm of actual participation. What so many outsiders fail to understand is that LOST has become very much an EXPERIENCE. It has completely transcended the television screen and has literally changed our lives. Because if it's very nature of being a story-as-matryoshka-doll, each person gains something different from their experience. You can watch LOST and enjoy it on whatever level you choose, but just when you think you have reached the furthest point that it can take you, yet another layer of meaning is suddenly uncovered.

Best of all, the show has caused us to form long-lasting bonds with fans all over the globe. In the past we have migrated in numbers to join together at the San Diego Comic Con, or more recently the season 6 premiere in Hawaii, or the LOST Live event this past weekend.

Now we come together in this final week to enjoy the brilliance that is LOST one last time. Life now imitates art, as we all prepare to Watch (the finale) Together, Cry (that it's over) Alone. ;-)

BUT BEFORE IT ALL ENDS, The Four Toed Foot wants to celebrate by holding one final CONTEST!!!!

Damon and Carlton on the Science of LOST

NOTE: This is an old interview

Here is a fun little interview of Damon and Carlton about the Science of LOST and more!

Thanks to Karen for the heads up!

We fact-check the science and technology behind Lost every week and most of the time you guys get it right. How much time do you spend researching each episode, and where do you do your research? Do you have a panel of experts on speed dial?
Carlton Cuse: We do not have a panel of experts on speed dial, although we do have Greg Nations, who is our script coordinator, who is someone we will turn to who will track down specific facts. The internet is also a beautiful and wonderful thing, and we have our own areas of expertise. Damon is a real comic book geek and I'm a little bit more of a science geek. I took a couple of years of high school physics and my dad was an engineer. I think even though I maybe don't possess a deep science knowledge, I do feel like my brain kind of works a little bit in the way of, you know, does this seem like it makes sense or not, and then Damon and I will go and find an expert or some factual stuff to try to support what it is that we want to do narratively.
Damon Lindelof: We have an awesome production team in Hawaii, so if we send down a script that says "Faraday has equations scribbled all over the chalkboard behind him," that falls upon them and Jeremy Davies, the actor who plays Faraday—who is very method and has been reading a lot about physics and trying to understand it—[to execute] what it says on the script page.

How important is it for you to get the science right?
CC: The science needs to be right enough that we kind of create a sense of believability to the story telling.
DL: We function on Jurassic Park rules, which are, if you can convince me that a mosquito can bite a dinosaur and then get preserved in amber, and that the DNA will not degrade over all that period of time, then you can show me a cloned dinosaur and I won't call it a science-fiction movie. And, you know, we try to do the same thing on the show. If something highly unlikely occurs, we try to offer up some grounding in the actual physical world that we understand in an effort to explain it—except in the case of things that don't potentially have a scientific explanation, which is where the show begins to go into its own territory.
CC: But we're always trying to skirt that line between the two possible explanations, the scientific one or a mythical and magical one, and we are purposefully ambiguous about which one might be correct. Obviously, certain things fall into the science category and certain things fall more into the mystical category, and that just sort of depends on what story we're telling that week.

There's a lot of fan talk that any non-rational or fictional or magical explanation of the island's happenings is a completely unacceptable cop-out. So far, there are plausible scientific explanations for everything that's happening, so people have accepted what's going on. Does being called out by viewers (or the press) worry you?
DL: Well, first off, I would challenge that assertion, and say, how does Yemi walking out of the jungle, the deceased brother of Eko, have a scientific explanation? I guess you would argue that he doesn't walk out of the jungle, that this is all sort of happening in Eko's head, that it's a hallucination. Would that be the case, is that...

LOST Finale is Eligible for the Emmy's

LOST Finale is Eligible for the Emmy's

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Board of Governors on Wednesday made a rule exception that will have a direct impact on the May 23 finale of Lost. Past rules have indicated that extended length episodes can only run for two hours but Lost’s finale is scheduled to run for two and a half hours. The board will now grant eligibility to the drama’s series finale episode.

Similar exceptions have been made in the past for the series finales of The Wire and The Sopranos. “We have a soft spot in our hearts for the final episodes of long-running series,” says John Leverence, the TV Academy’s senior VP of awards.

The Lost finale can be submitted for consideration under any number of scenarios. A Lost star may use it to compete in one of the acting categories, while ABC Studios may use it to go after the best drama prize.
