New LOST ARG Planned for Off-Season, but Not Mobisodes

Here is a great article from Variety about LOST and the mediums that the show has moved into because of us hard core fans!!
The article mentions the video game, books, ARGs (TLE and Find815.com) and viral sites, but the key to the article is that LOST producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are planning another ARG for the upcoming off-season that will lead into Season 5. However, they also said they do NOT plan any mobisodes because of how time consuming they are.
Well here is the article enjoy and always thanks for stopping by!!
Namaste.
Maybe they should rename it "Lost, Inc."
It's still a hit TV show, first and foremost. But "Lost" has also spawned mobisodes, videogames, books, viral videos, interactive Internet sites and much more.
For the exec producers who run that enterprise -- Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof -- the show's timing couldn't have been more perfect. "Lost" came along right when the ability to create video for multiple platforms exploded. Among primetime series, few shows are better suited than "Lost" to embrace the brave new world.
But there have been a few bumps along the way.
"We've learned some things worked better than others," Cuse says. "We've enjoyed the opportunities 'Lost' has given for us to try to expand the brand on other platforms. (But the) skill set involved in running a TV series does not translate directly to success in other platforms."
Lindelof and Cuse say their experience with ancillary products and platforms has varied depending on whom they've collaborated with.
They loved what Australia-based Hoodlum, for example, came up with for the show's recent "Find 815" interactive campaign. But the duo was less thrilled with some of the products that emerged early in the show's life, including a series of studio-commissioned "Lost"-themed novels that had little to do with the actual show.
"Us realizing we were managing a brand started early in season one," Lindelof says. "ABC business development came to us ... but we said all those conversations will be moot if we don't have a hit show."
A year later, after getting rid of those novelizations, the "Lost" team came up with the idea for "Bad Twin," a book discovered on the show by one of the characters. Created for the show and distributed in bookstores, the novel wasn't about what was happening on the show, but it tied into the world of "Lost."
That's become the mantra for all of "Lost's" extracurricular activities, be it mobisodes or videogames: The other platforms can't be considered canon, or required for "Lost's" TV audience.
"Our criteria is, everything you need to know about 'Lost' is contained in the mother ship," Cuse says. "There are definitely large segments of the audience that want more. And the ancillary media platforms give us opportunities to put out stories that might be interesting to some but not all."
For example, the show's first alternate reality game centered on the Hanso Foundation, the shady "Lost" organization responsible for the show's "Dharma Initiative." Rabid fans -- particularly those on the Internet -- feasted on that more in-depth mythology.
Those off-season interactive experiences also specifically feed into that season's plot points. This year's focus on the mysterious discovery of Oceanic Flight 815 at the bottom of the sea was foreshadowed by the "Find 815" campaign.
Lindelof and Cuse are already busy plotting the off-season interactive campaign for season five of "Lost." But they also employ a brand manager to handle at least 30 different outgrowths of the show, including mobile games and player platform games to more obscure licensing.
"We're very involved in certain things and uninvolved in others," Lindelof says. "Just running the show takes an enormous amount of time."
That's one reason "Lost" won't be producing another batch of mobile episodes in the near future.
The "Lost" producers are proud of the fact that they managed to strike a deal between ABC and the labor guilds in order to produce the short-form segs with "Lost's" top stars, scribes and helmers.
"They came out great," Lindelof says. "But the process of breaking those 13 two-minute stories and editing them was enormously time consuming. In terms of doing them again, creative has to drive it."
Lindelof says he's also aware of the show's saturation point.
"We spend the majority of our time saying 'no' to these things," he says. "There's something about the less of the show that exists, the more valuable it is. It makes it sexier to want to watch it on Thursday night if it isn't everywhere."

My TOP 3 are:

The ODI LOST Complete Podcast 1
Hey All,
So some of you already listened to the first part of The ODI LOST Podcast yesterday and we have already received some positive feedback, so thank you very much for listening.
Now for those of you that missed the first part I am reposting the player with the first part here again and it is followed by the remaining 3 clips in a divshare player. Each clip is about 10 minutes long and is the PERFECT pre-game before watching the LOST Season 4 Premiere.
If you were on hiatus yourself or a LOST fan this is a must listen, because it will totally help you catch up. The podcast is with a good friend of mine named Ronald and I think for the first time out it worked out well. I know there are some things we can work on and it will only get better.
We discuss the hiatus with the mobisodes and Find815, we talk a little about the Q&A with the LOST writer and we also talk a little about what to expect in the Season 4 premiere.
Parts 2-4 can be downloaded for anyone that would like to listen on their iPod. We will be looking into iTunes and we will hopefully have the second podcast up early next week with a little recap of the premiere and a preview of episode 2.
So please enjoy and post some comments with some feedback. Sorry with some of the background noise, the mic I had was not the best, but still sounds pretty good. Also, with this being out first podcast and after such a long hiatus
NOTE: Spoiler Haters, we discuss some minor spoilers for the season premiere in part 4, so if you do not like spoilers do NOT listen to part 4. We also warn in the audio so you should be ok in case you forget.

Jack - Yeah. That’s me.
Ethan - Well, I heard you were rounding up the medicine, so I figured you might want this.
[He opens a suitcase.]
Jack - Whew.

Ethan - Jackpot, right?
Jack - Guy must have been a hypochondriac or something. Where did you find this?
Ethan - Jungle.
Ethan - I’m Ethan, by the way.
[They shake hands.]
Jack - Jack.
Ethan - Thank you, Jack.
Jack - For what?
Ethan - Getting those together, having a little perspective, you know. [Says something unintelligible.] Most of them still think we’re going to get rescued any time now.
Jack - And you think I don‘t?
Ethan - No, I think you’re smart. And I think you’re looking at that girl, [looks at Claire] knowing that you might actually have to deliver that baby here. I know that’s what I’m thinking.
Jack - Well, it’s nice to know I’m not alone.
Ethan - [Laughs.] You’re definitely not alone.
Jack - If she does go into labor, at least I know I’ve got an assistant. [Ethan looks at him and looks away.] I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…”
Ethan - It’s all right. Don’t worry about it. Anyway I’m glad the meds.
Jack - Thank you.
[Ethan gets up to leave.]
Ethan - Jack, um, my wife died in childbirth. And our uh, our baby didn’t make it either. [Jack looks at him, but doesn’t say anything.] Well, let’s hope we’re both wrong and the rescue boats are on the way right now.

Sun: Yes, I’m, I’m fine. I just, I just needed a moment by myself.
Michael: Hey, you sure you’re ok? [Sun looks down. Michael looks down too. He sees her license on the ground and picks it up]
Sun: [crying] I was, this is…
Michael: No, no, no, you don’t have to explain. [He hands the license to her.]
Sun: I was going to leave him. I was going to leave Jin, and start a new life in America. But I changed my mind at the airport because I was afraid.
Michael: Hey, hey, it’s, it’s, it’s ok. [He holds her hands.] We’re getting off this island any day now. Things will change.
Sun: No. It’s too late. This place. It’s my punishment. It’s my destiny.
Michael: No... Maybe you should talk to him.
Sun: He’s not the man I fell in love with.
[Michael hugs her.]
Michael: Maybe he just needs a little time. It’s been hard on all of us. It’s ok. It’ll be ok.
[They pull apart and stare at each other. Michael’s hand is on Sun’s face. They lean in to kiss, but before they do, Vincent comes up and barks and they back away.]
Sun: I must go. I’m sorry. [Sun runs away.]
Michael: Uh… [Watches her leave.] Come here, Vincent. Come on.
Here is LOST Mobisode 8: Buried Secrets which feature Sun and Michael in a scene which seems definitely early in Season 1. This confirms a suspicion that many of us had about the connection between Sun and Michael.
Enjoy and namaste.
Thanks to DocArzt.
Thanks to our good friend DarkUFO for the clip.

Hey All,
Like we reported a couple of weeks ago, that Daniel Roebuck, Dr. Arzt would be appearing in two of the mobisodes and well this is the first one he appears in. Of course this means this is a missing piece from Season 1 and actually goes waaay back early into season 1, when the Losties were deciding on staying at the caves or on the beach.
This mobisode features several of the Losties and picks up on one of the very common reccurring themes in LOST....duality. Since day 1 there seems to be two schools of thought on what to do on the island and who to follow....?? Team Jack or NOT Team Jack.
Well Arzt gives some of the Losties his insights on whether the Losties should trust Jack or not..??
Once again a big thanks to Susan@DarkUFO for supplying us with the video clip to share with you all.
Well here you go enjoy and namaste.
Full Transcript:
[Jin and Sun sitting on the beach. Looking through clothes. Talking in Korean.]
Jin - [pointing at something] I think they are lovers.
Sun - They're not.
Jin - He looks at her like they are.
Sun - Boone and Shannon are brother and sister.
Jin - How do you know? Do they speak Korean?
Sun - It was just a guess.
[Arzt comes running up to them.]
Arzt - What's all this about moving from the beaches, huh, going to the caves? Are you guys going, to the caves?
Hurley - [sitting a few feet away with Michael] They don't speak English, dude.
Arzt - [to Hurley and Michael] Oh. How about, are you going?
Michael - I don't know what you're talking about, man.
Arzt - I'm talking about the caves. Are you going to go to the caves? Jack and that bald guy, and uh, what's-her-face, they found some caves, and they think that actually we should move from the beaches to the caves.
Hurley - So, why shouldn't we?
Arzt - Why, sh… Ok, A 1, moisture. Caves are abundant with moisture. Moisture breeds bacteria, and attracts insects that would lay eggs in our mouths while we sleep. All right.
Arzt - [turning around and yelling, slowly, at Sun and Jin] Hey, hey, hey. I know that you don't understand me, but if there is a vote to go to the caves, you two, you vote no! Got it? No!
Michael - Hey, shouting at them is not going to make them understand any more.
Hurley - Hey, if Jack says it's a good idea, maybe we should, like, trust him.
Arzt - Why? You tell me. Because he's a doctor? Is that what qualifies him for leadership here? How do we know he's not a nut case? I want to tell you something. [leaning down and speaking quietly to Hurley and Michael] The other day I'm in the jungle, and I'm taking a leak, and Jack runs through the jungle, crying for his Daddy. [speaking louder, to all] Ok, fine, fine, you morons, you want to go to the caves, good riddance. I'm going to stay right here on the beach with all the people who want to survive. [Monster noise. They all look around.] I'll uh, I'll see you guys at the caves. [He walks away.]

Ben – Well, you're going to have to tell him to stop doing it.
Juliet – I'm not going in there.
Ben – Fine. Get Beatrice.

Ben – No.
Juliet – This is your responsibility. You were the one who wanted him here.

[Hurley walks out of a tent with a backpack]
Frogurt: Hello Hurley.
[Hurley turns around and something falls out of his backpack]
Hurley: Frogurt.
Frogurt: It's Neil.
Hurley: Neil.
Frogurt: What are you doing in Rose and Bernard's tent, Hurley?
Hurley: Nothing.
Frogurt: Nothing, huh?
[Frogurt picks up a DHARMA wine bottle that appears to have fallen
from Hurley's backpack]
Looks like you snagged some DHARMA cabernet.
Hurley: They said I could borrow it.
Frogurt: No worries, bro. I'm not here to get in your skin. If you
wanna steal from Bernie, steal from Bernie. I just have a question
for you. What's going on with you and Libby?
Hurley: What do you mean?
Forgurt: I mean are you going to make a move or not?
Hurley: None of your business, dude.
Frogurt: Look, Tubby, you're holding up the line. You and I both
know you're not going to get past doing laundry with her, so why don't
you back off, and let a real man in.
Hurley: Really?
Frogurt: Really.
Hurley: Well it just so happens I'm way past doing laundry with her.
Yeah that's right. In fact, I'm going on a date with her right now.
We're going on a picnic.
Frogurt: You got a date with her?
Hurley: Yeah. I'm bringing the wine, she's bringing the blankets.
Frogurt: Well played, Hurley. Well played. But it's not over. If
you can't close the deal with Libby, it's Neil-time - now and forever.
[Neil walks away]

[Jack throwing rocks into the ocean. Wearing shades, hair is longer than normal].
Christian: Whatcha doin there kiddo?
[camera turns to show Christian walking towards Jack on a beach. They are in front of the hotel where Jack gets married.]
Jack: Just throwing rocks.
Christian: Good! It's good to the Rocking Throwing out before you get married.
Jack: It was either this or being inside with Sarah and the Wedding Planner figuring out where all the flowers should go.
Christian: Wise choice. Listen, before tonight, before things get crazy, I wanted to give you something. This was my dad's and I thought it'd be fitting.
[Christian pulls a watch out of a white handkerchief]
Jack: I've never seen you wear it before.
Christian: That's because I never did. See, your grandfather didn't really like your mom. He thoguht marrying her was a mistake. He told me, to my face, that the day that I got married, he'd give me this watch. So I never wore it.
Jack: Are you trying to tell me something?
Christian: You made..the absolute right choice.
[Jack puts watch on]
Jack: Guess this is really happening, huh?
Christian: Soon as those flowers are set up...and as soon as you run out of rocks.
[pause]
Christian: Do me a favor, huh? If you and Sarah ever have a kid, try to treat it better than I treated you.
Jack: No pressure, huh?
Christian: See you inside, kiddo.
